Project Updates

Project and Funding Updates for Referrers September 2018

As well as Exeter and Mid Devon, we now also cover East Devon, Teignbridge and Torbay. We are currently training several new Home Energy Advisors (HEAs) and are extending the number of drop-in energy advice clinics around the region.

LEAP (Local Energy Advice Partnership) continues this year, and will continue until at least 2021. We are the dedicated partners for the LEAP service across our entire region, and this enables us to provide bespoke advice during FREE home energy visits to qualifying residents. Please note that LEAP has a new website. Please use with immediate effect. You can read the latest LEAP newsletter here.

ECO (Energy Company Obligation) is the government funding that helps to improve the energy efficiency of homes. ECO provides funding to install measures such as loft or cavity wall insulation, or replacement boilers, which improve the ability of low income and vulnerable households to heat their homes. We are currently in-between schemes. ECO2t is coming to an end, and ECO3 starts in November. There have been a lot of changes this year that we are still gathering information about. Please continue to refer clients to us who may need grant funded help to make home improvements to heating and insulation. We will do our best to find the right funding for them.

ECHO is another funding scheme that has just restarted for this year. Since September 1st we have already referred 4 clients for new boilers. ECHO provides funding in what’s called a ‘No Heat’ situation, when gas boilers are broken or beyond economical repair.

Clients are referred to ECO3 and ECHO via a LEAP home visit. Therefore the sooner your clients get booked in for a LEAP visit, the sooner we can help them.

Drop-in Energy Advice Clinics

We now have regular drop-in energy advice clinics which are open to everyone, with no eligibility criteria to satisfy, in Exeter, Tiverton, Crediton and Cullompton. Thank you to all our host venues. We couldn’t do this without your valued support.

At the clinics we offer free impartial advice and energy saving tips, can help with tariff and supplier switching on the spot, help residents apply for warm home discount, and register for the Priority Services Register. We’ll also book them in for a free LEAP home energy visit if they are eligible.

We keep our project webpage updated with all our clinics, and we share the info regularly on social media, so please check regularly to see what’s happening in your area. If you would like a poster or leaflets for the clinics held in your area, please just ask.

We will be starting new drop-in clinics in East Devon,Teignbridge and Torbay in the coming months. If you have any suggestions for where we might hold a drop-in clinic in your area, either as a one-off event, or a regular monthly clinic, please do let us know.

Community Magazines and Newletters

We’re trying to build a list of local community magazines, parish newsletters, charity newsletters etc. We’d like to share details of our clinics, as well as the full energy advice service. We can provide a series of energy related articles too that may be of interest to readers. If you know of any suitable publications we’d be pleased to hear from you.
