ECOE’s new team member Lee Cramer

The ECOE team continues to evolve with time. We’re keeping you up to date on the new faces to you so that you don’t wonder who they are when you meet them. Here, we introduce Lee Cramer, who is keeping ECOE’s finances on the right track!

What is your role at ECOE Lee?

I have recently been appointed as Finance Director of ECOE. This role requires me to oversee the financial management of the company and offer my financial expertise where needed. This includes ensuring the annual accounts are accurately prepared. I ensure the quality of internal financial management systems, review the viability of various projects and advise on ad-hoc matters such as the structure of new investments. My work is therefore office based and not as predominately in the community but being an accountant, this is probably for the best.

What’s your background?

Since graduating from university in 2005 with a degree in accounting and finance, I took my first job in a small yet brilliant accountancy practice in Hampshire. That is where I learnt my trade. Since then I moved down to Devon with my partner where I qualified in 2009. I went on to work as an audit manager before moving to Exeter two years ago when expecting our first son to work for a long-established accounting practice. During my 15 years’ experience I have worked on a wide-range of clients from your one-man bands to medium-sized companies. My main interest is understanding my clients and their business and helping them to fulfil their business goals.

What motivated you to join ECOE?

The opportunity to work for ECOE was one that interested me immediately. I had been seeking an opportunity where I would be able to invest into the local community and give some time and energy but ECOE allows me to do whilst contributing my experience and expertise in a meaningful way. The good that ECOE does in terms of supporting the vulnerable and protecting the environment ticked all the boxes. From a financial point of view the structure of the company also appealed in terms of the local community benefiting from investing into the local community to make a positive impact in a sustainable way.

What should members and supporters talk to you about if they bump into you?

I’m not sure too many people want to strike up a conversation with an accountant. Having said that, I will always be happy to discuss on-going projects and ventures of ECOE. If conversation strays from ECOE, I am a keen walker and enjoy hiking holidays and love to travel. While not a very accomplished cook, I adore food and eating out although that has somewhat changed since the arrival of my two year-old son Atticus!
