Meet the new people at ECOE: David Bacon, O&M director

ECOE’s new O&M director David Bacon

Hopefully you’ve read some of these posts introducing you to the ECOE team before. If not, the idea is to keep you up to date on the new faces to you so that you don’t wonder who they are when you meet them. Today we introduce David Bacon.

What is your role at ECOE David?

I am delighted to have joined the ECOE team as Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Director in July 2021. That means my focus will be to ensure our Solar PV installations work efficiently. These sites will then generate as much electricity as possible to reduce carbon emissions for our clients, members and supporters.

What is your background?

I have worked in the aerospace manufacturing sector in commercial and business development roles for over 14 years, building on a foundation in engineering. From that I have experience of working effectively across diverse groups and functions to deliver projects.  Also, I am in the process of a career pivot in the sustainability sector having completed a MSc in Global Sustainability Studies at University of Exeter.

What motivated you to join ECOE?

The healthy homes and fuel poverty aims of a local community-owned energy organisation resonated with many of the topics of my sustainability studies.  As such, I look forward to contributing to energy efficiency and supporting the sustainable energy transition of the area.

What should member and supporters talk to you about if they bump into you?

With my family we love to explore and find new places in the beautiful Devon countryside and coastline.  I am an enthusiastic cyclist and enjoy sports.  We have recently invested in a stand up paddle board. We are enjoying the additional freedom that provides to beach adventures.
