A new year will soon be upon us – yet climate and fuel poverty remain pressing problems. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to act, we have exciting opportunities for you. Interested? If so, read on for details:

Monitoring and maintenance co-ordinator

ECOE is looking for a monitoring and maintenance co-ordinator, to join our team on a paid basis for 4 hrs a week.  This is an opportunity to operate in a role with real purpose. The successful applicant will have a lasting and positive impact on the local area, the Exeter community.  You will be playing a direct part in the fight against climate change, reducing carbon emissions. In this role, you will also be enabling low carbon and decentralised energy generation through renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.  You will make a tangible difference to peoples lives and wellbeing who find themselves in fuel poverty. And finally, you will be an integral force-for-good in making ECOE run smoothly and profitably.

Do you know anyone with the skills and available time to fill this important role? Would you like further information about role responsibilities? Please contact Tara Bowers, chair in the first instance on tara@ecoe.org.uk or on 07731 540215.

Finance director

ECOE’s Finance Director Vicky Vallis is stepping down because the role with us raised her profile in her day job. Her employers have promoted her to a more senior and time-consuming role. Vicky therefore now has less time to balance her main job and her ECOE commitment. So we are looking for a new Finance Director to join our Board. The Finance Director will help explore fundraising options and determine the prospects of new projects, as well as meet our regulatory commitments.

The role bests suit someone who has a strong interest in helping the environment and/or local community and would therefore be motivated to spend their spare time on this. We are ideally looking for people able to commit a significant amount of time, upwards of ten hours per month, but welcome all enquiries. Directors must be ECOE shareholders, which will require a minimum £50 investment. This is your chance to do something real to address the climate emergency! Apply by contacting Tara as above.

Bookkeeper

We are also looking for a volunteer bookkeeper to take on the day to day finance administration. This includes paying invoices, entering transactions into accounting software, updating cashflow, and creating VAT reports. The bookkeeper reports to the Finance Director. Full details are available by contacting Tara as above.

Other volunteers

We welcome anyone with the interest and passion to help ECOE – volunteers don’t need to invest. We’d be especially interested if you can help with events, developing new projects, making funding applications and/or bringing in commercial sponsorship. Or perhaps you know other people who could, or email or internet discussion groups of local people who would consider something like this? All enquiries are welcome – contact Tara using the details above!
