The amount saved each year has increased due to two factors. First, we installed two new sites in 2020, at The Beacon Community Centre and Westbank. Secondly, after 2021 inflation has widened the gap between our electricity costs and the sites’ main suppliers’.

We’ve worked this out because we’re in the process of calculating the savings at each site, and will share them with the host organisations shortly. We’ve tracked the rate we charge them for electricity and estimated what they pay their main supplier by increasing the rate they initially told us they pay by government figures for electricity price inflation. Multiplying the difference between these figures by the amount of solar energy they consumed has given us an estimate of the amount saved.
