ECOE – Heat Project

In May we found out that our application to UCEF was succesful. We have received a grant of almost £20k to explore the feasibility of a community renewable energy generation project in Exeter.

We’re making plans and starting to contact potential partners. Its early days yet. Whats ahead is preparing an information leaflet, organising an educative event, researching legal agreements, creating a financial model and putting together a new business plan.

If you’re interested in learning more about community heat, Regen SW has written an excellent guide, we’re finding it invaluable. You can download it here

Volunteer Opportunities

– Marketing and promotion
– Mailchimp newsletter and wordpress website updates
– Taking part in Energy Efficiency Working Group
– Represent ECOE at key meetings in Exeter
– Researching and completing funding applications

ECOE Events

Our speakers Merlin Hyman, Prof Patrick Devine-Wright and John Rigby gave very different and informative takes on the referendum. We explored the role of the EU in promoting clean energy and mitigating climate change from Merlin, John reminded us of the referendum in the ’70s and blew away some of the myths whilst Patrick focused on the significance of identity regarding whether we supported Remain or Brexit.

We had hoped for more participants but our conversations did seem to help us deepen our understanding of some of the complexity and many people said they had learned more than from the news and other events they had attended.
