After a successful fifth year of ECOE’s Community Fund, it is now open for applications again. The fund is available for local community projects to apply for financing that help to address the climate emergency and promote social justice. This time, for 2023/2024, we have up to £10,000 available. In detail, £5,000 comes from income from our solar PV and Healthy Homes for Wellbeing projects. The rest comes from interest donated by ECOE members. Thanks to everyone who did this.

In case you missed it, we awarded funds to five groups in our 2021/2022 community fund campaign. You can read about those projects and all those from previous years here. For example, £1,000 went to Alphington Community Association for more efficient heating for the village hall. Also, we provided a total of £1,307 in match funding towards solar panels and a battery at Countess Wear Village Hall. We awarded £1,000 and £500 to Exeter Phoenix and Whipton Community Hall for secondary glazing, respectively. Finally we awarded £1,500 to SEADREAM to produce educational resources on energy efficiency.

For applications for 2023/2024, the details regarding who can apply, for what and our criteria for the allocation of the grants can be found in the guidance notes on our community fund page. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2023. We will check all applications to see if they meet our criteria. A group made up of ECOE members, directors and partners from rooftop solar sites, local community groups and local statutory organisations will judge the proposals. If you would like to be a part of that group, please volunteer at info@ecoe.org.uk. We will announce the winners at the end of February 2024.
