Meet ECOE’s new director Prina Sumaria!

Hopefully you’ve read some of these posts introducing you to the ECOE team before. We are keeping you up to date on the new faces to you so that you don’t wonder who they are when you meet them. Today we introduce Prina Sumaria.

What is your role at ECOE?

I’m really excited to join ECOE as a volunteer director, starting in February 2022.

What is your background?

I’ve been interested in various environmental issues for as long as I can remember. I graduated a couple of years ago from the University of Bristol, having studied an integrated masters in Environmental Geoscience. Since then, I’ve been working at Regen, on various projects supporting the community energy sector. I also look into the wider issues around how we can decarbonise the whole energy system.

What motivated you to join ECOE?

Having worked with community energy organisations across the country for over a year, I was really inspired by the work everyone is doing in this sector, and wanted to get involved on the ground too. In particular, ECOE are running projects that really resonate with me in how we should be tackling the climate crisis, whilst keeping communities at the centre of our efforts – I’m looking forward to helping out!

What should members and supporters talk to you about if they bump into you?

Tell me about your favourite hikes in the South West, your favourite books, or your favourite beaches! I’m also always keen to chat about any social justice issue you’re particularly passionate about or a new vegan recipe that you’ve tried and loved.
